A DIY Fashion Show!

I've been on a sewing spree, these past few weeks, making lots of skirts for myself and Christina, and a really cute sundress for Catherine.  It didn't take much to convince the girls to do a little modeling, for me!  Catherine is wearing a little sundress made from McCall's M4814.  I made her the size 6, but it's swimming on her.  Christina has on several skirts that I made, with modifications, from Pink Fig Patterns "The Girly Stripwork Skirt No. 5".  That pattern is for younger girls, and the largest size it goes up to is a 7.  I basically added 2" to each of the pattern pieces, to make a size 14ish for Chris.  I also reduced the amount of panels by half; the original pattern called for 4 each of 5 different fabrics.....I only used 2 each, so the skirt is not as full as the original.  Christina likes it better, this way!

I had fun teasing Christina just a little bit, because in every pose she is *quite* the ballerina!

I especially love how the skirts take on a whole different look, depending on what color tee shirt she wears.  I am so happy to have found a way to use all of my leftover scraps of fabric from other projects, to create something really lovely that my pre-teen daughter thinks is "way cool, Mom!" :)
